Baler, Aurora 102013

sunny 34 °C

I started traveling back in 2013 for a reason that a lot of us can relate to, mending a broken heart. I never thought that being outside, traveling, going places, meeting new people, trying new things or just simply living life can lead me to a genuine kind of happiness that I forever will cherish in my heart and that is the love for mother nature.
It was one fateful day when we visited Baler in Aurora, one of the most sought after surfing destination in the Philippines when I realized that this should be the life I am supposed to be doing. Because I was too busy doing grown up things, earning, learning but never really living. The wild metropolitan jungle is just too mean, vast and awkward it is eating me alive and I needed a refuge of some sort. I needed an escape. I guess at first I called it that, but after a while it dawned on me that I no longer do things for escapism's purposes I am in fact in love... with traveling.

Baler is unforgettably relaxing. It chilled the eff out of me during the most miserable state of my being. I felt like each and every strong wave rushing to the shore of Diguisit Beach is crushing every bit of heartache I was feeling.
The cold and crystal clear water of Diguisit Falls is enough to wash away the tears about to fall the whole time that we were there.
Meanwhile at Sabang Beach, the surfing haven that is one of my strongly recommended places to visit for all of you surfers and surfing enthusiasts out there, they hold various annual surfing competitions (mostly around September and October). We were there just in time for the Surf Supreme which we never knew was happening, hosted by Aliya Surf Camp and sponsored by Stoked Inc among others. It was so much fun indeed. The booze, cool people and the waves singing, "don't worry 'bout a thing cuz every li'l thing is gon be o'ryt.. "
The sunset was lovely too (tho' I didn't really got a good shot of it cuz you know, people) and the laid back surfer's life was contagious.
Never mind the scorching pacific heat, never mind the things we left in the great metropolitan jungle and never mind the heartache. For what matters most at that moment, is making that night THE BEST night of our lives.
Ps. I was feeling like a sour loser all those times but if I think about it now, I didn't really lose anything perhaps some cash spent on special occasions but aside from that in fact I gained a lot from that experience and looking at what we both have become now is actually rewarding. Oh well, LIFE right? :)
